Life is an adventure that is enhanced tremendously by the loyal and loving companionship of our pets. They give so much but ask for so little in return.  Our mission at Sunshine Animal Hospital is to give them a voice so that their individual and unique health needs are being assessed and met with a focus on compassion and expertise in care, all while keeping in mind the goals of the caregiver. Sunshine Animal Hospital, located in Superior, Colorado, is a single doctor, privately owned practice.  We feel that practicing medicine in a smaller setting allows for a more personal connection, better care and allows every patient to have a health care plan that is customized to them.

Sunshine Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital and welcomes both emergency treatment cases as well as pet patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care. Dr. Kristy Kreutzer has years of experience treating serious conditions and offering regular pet wellness care. Beyond first-rate pet care, we make our clinic comfortable, kid-friendly, and calm, so your pet can relax in the waiting room and look forward to meeting our Superior veterinarian.

Learn Who We Are

  • Dr.
    Kristy Kreutzer
    Owner, Veterinarian

    Dr. Kreutzer was born and raised in Colorado. As a young girl, she always loved animals and generally had a menagerie of animals at home. She grew up riding horses and was a dedicated member of the Westernaires precision drill horse riding organization throughout her childhood. Kristy was the first member of her extended family to go to college, and she was drawn to the medical field. Early in college, she owned a puppy that ended up having a developmental malformation and unfortunately had to be euthanized. It was this challenging event in her life that caused her to realize her calling was in veterinary medicine.

  • Chrissy Keller
    Veterinary Technician

    Chrissy has been working as a technician in the veterinary field for 12 years.  Chrissy likes managing surgical patients and she is also great at managing inventory. In her free time she likes working on cars and loves music and going to concerts.  She is a big fan of Jeeps and likes to take them off roading. Chrissy is a big fan of the Parson’s Russel Terriers (formerly known as Jack Russel Terrier) and has a rambunctious Parson’s Russel Terrier puppy named Petey who keeps her very busy. She also has two birds and two cats at home.

    Veterinary Technician

    Colleen have always had a love for animals and a strong desire to work with them.  Her first job out of high school was for a nature center in which she cared for permanently injured wildlife. Then had an amazing 15-year career as an Animal Control Officer. After taking time off to raise her children she wanted to get back to work in the animal field. So she sent herself back to college! Colleen received her Veterinary Assistant certification from Community College of Denver in December 2015. Colleen has been working on a part-time basis and love the challenges and variety of caring for companion animals.  She is grateful to be a part of an incredible team at Sunshine Animal Hospital where we treat and care for pets as if they were our own!  Colleen shares a home with three children, two dogs, one cat, and her son’s leopard geckos.  She is an avid falconer and enjoy hiking, skiing and bird watching.

    Client Care Representative

    Kristyn is our client care representative. She is originally from Indiana but wanted to move to Colorado for our sunny days and the climate.  She has been working in the vet industry since 2016. Kristyn loves kittens and got her first cat, Violin, at the age of 4. Now she has two cats, Todd and Meeko.  In her free time Kristyn enjoys video games, rockhounding and gardening.
