Eye Care

Your Pet’s Eyes & Their Care Are Important

While it is always a good idea to contact us immediately when your pet appears to be suffering from sickness or injury, it is especially important when a pet’s eyes are involved. Many eye problems turn out to be minor; however, even short delays in seeking veterinary help for a pet’s eye problems can result in blindness or loss of the eye.

Eye infections can occur in pets and are usually treatable with medication. Injuries from objects striking the eyes, or chemicals coming in contact with your pet’s eyes, should be taken seriously, and your pet should be brought to a veterinarian for treatment immediately. In addition to injuries, your pet’s eyes can develop cataracts, glaucoma, or other eye conditions or diseases. This is especially true as your pet advances in age.

Regular head-to-tail preventive care exams include examination of the eyes,  will enable the veterinarian to detect these conditions and diseases early.

Your pet’s eyes are important to his or her well-being and should be a concern when taking their overall care into consideration.
