Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Robert Redisch

Dr. Redisch graduated from Michigan State University in 1972 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Less than two years later, he founded Union Lake Veterinary Hospital. He also earned a Diplomate of Preventive Medicine from Florida Institute of Technology in 1978 and has spent time as a member of the medical advisory council at the Detroit Zoological Park.

Although semi-retired, Dr. Redisch still has special interest in surgery and building the most unique pet care complex in Michigan. He has a weak heart for terriers but is fond of all animals big and small.


Dr. Charles Plein

Dr. Plein graduated from Michigan State University in 1974 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He also gained practical experience through the senior internship program at MSU, by spending time in Massachusetts with the ASPCA at Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital, and practicing emergency medicine at the Veterinary Emergency Service.

Dr. Plein is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Plein’s special veterinary interests include cardiac and abdominal ultrasound, internal medicine, and animal behavior and training. Outside of the practice, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Nancy, and children, Sarah and Matthew.



Dr. Kate Reynolds, CCRP

Dr. Reynolds is a graduate of Michigan State University, having earned her dual-degree bachelors of science in animal science and zoology in 1999 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. During her time at MSU, she served as her veterinary class president for four years. She is a tried and true Spartan!

After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Reynolds began her career in Sacramento, California, where she completed a rigorous one-year internship at the Sacramento Animal Medical Group, concentrating on oncology, surgery, general medicine, and emergency medicine.

Since 2004, Dr. Reynolds has been with Union Lake Veterinary Hospital, and she is proud to be a part of such a comprehensive pet care complex that practices the highest quality of medicine. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. Her special interests include dermatology, nutrition, client education, and she enjoys participating in continuing education. She is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practioner.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Reynolds enjoys spending time with her family and friends, youth development, and taking ballroom dancing lessons.



Dr. Erica Hawker

Dr. Hawker graduated from the University of Michigan in 1997 with a bachelor of science in natural resources. She then attended Michigan State University and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Hawker joined Union Lake Veterinary Hospital upon graduation and has special interests in behavior medicine and pain management. 

Dr. Hawker has advanced training in behavior medicine. She enjoys teaching owners how to better understand their pet's behavior, improve their relationship and reduce their pet's anxiety.

Outside of the hospital, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, son, and daughter. They share their home with one dog and two cats.



Dr. Jennifer Herdon

Dr. Herdon attended Michigan State University and received both her bachelor of veterinary science degree in 2001 and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2003.   She pursued further academic studies through an internship program at the renowned California Animal Hospital in West Los Angeles. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Herdon’s special interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, dermatology, pain management, and client education.

She enjoys spending time outside the hospital with her family and friends, as well as her three cats.



Dr. Lauren Liba, CAC, CVA

Dr. Liba is a graduate of Michigan State University, having received a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2002 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.  After graduation, she spent eight years practicing emergency and critical care medicine, then transitioned to general practice at Union Lake. She is a Certified Animal Chiropractor, Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, and is Certified in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Dr. Liba’s special interests include exotic animal medicine, ophthalmology, ultrasonography and soft tissue surgery.  Practicing emergency medicine has allowed her to manage many challenging cases and see a wide variety of conditions.  This experience has been invaluable at Union Lake.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Liba enjoys spending time with her husband, children and pets.  She also enjoys reading, running and photography.



Dr. Marti S. Notarius

Dr. Marti S. Notarius graduated with Honors from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. During her senior year, she completed a month long externship at the Aquarium of Niagara, working with dolphins, seals, sea lions and penguins. Following graduation she went on to work for a board certified veterinary dentist and small animal practitioner located in Farmington Hills, Michigan. From there, her practice career took her to the wine country of Northern California, and now back to her home state of Michigan. Her special veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, pain management/anesthesia, dentistry and internal medicine. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Notarius enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and throwing the ball for her energetic Chocolate Labrador, Eoghan (pronounced Owen).


Dr. Shira Anchill

Dr. Anchill graduated from the University of Michigan in 1999 with dual bachelor's degrees in psychology and hebrew and jewish cultural studies. During her undergraduate years she spent a semester abroad at Hebrew University of Jerusalem studying and traveling throughout the Middle East. Dr. Anchill received her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Michigan State University in 2005. During vet school she spent a summer living in Northern Thailand researching food borne pathogens and immersed in Thai culture.

Prior to joining Union Lake Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Anchill spent 8 years in small animal private practice in northern Oakland County. Her special interests include internal medicine, dentistry and pain management. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Anchill enjoys traveling, skiing, yoga, cooking, reading and spending time with her husband, daughter and Portuguese Water Dog.



Dr. Danielle Erb

Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Danielle Erb earned a bachelor degree in biochemistry at Oakland University. Dr. Erb then attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 2009. Her veterinary career began with a one year internship at Blue Water Equine Hospital in Emmett, Michigan. After completion of the internship, she practiced as an associate veterinarian at a clinic in her hometown of Wixom, Michigan for four years before joining the team at Union Lake Veterinary Hospital in 2014. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.

Dr. Erb is very excited to be part of the team at Union Lake Veterinary Hospital. She has special interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry and ophthalmology. She particularly enjoys working with cats and has soft spots for both Basset Hounds and Australian Shepherds.

Outside of the hospital, she enjoys walking her dogs, riding horses, weight training and spending time with her fiancé, Scott, two dogs (Shiva and Snowy) and two cats (Killian and Pippin).



Dr. Alyssa Weeden

Dr. Weeden, originally from Rochester Hills, MI is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois where she received a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She continued her education by completing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Illinois in 2015. After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Weeden returned to Michigan to begin her professional career with a one-year rotating internship in Flint, at the Animal Surgical Center of Michigan, focusing on oncology, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine.

She is a member of both the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Weeden enjoys spending time with her husband and two active Vizslas, Ruby and Colton. She also enjoys skiing, gardening and traveling.





Dr. Jenna Corbett

Dr. Jenna Corbett

Dr. Corbett graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Zoology in 2004 and from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.  She also did a combined program to earn a MS in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology. 

Dr. Corbett has worked as an associate veterinarian in general practice as well as emergency and critical care practice.  She owned her own practice with her husband until she decided she wanted to focus on her family.

Dr. Corbett strives to provide quality care and is always looking to improve her practice. She has a strong interest in genetics and breed-specific care, surgery, oncology, ophthalmology, and senior pet care.  Her MS thesis was on gene therapy using recombinant viral vectors as a potential treatment for PRA (progressive retinal atrophy), a degenerative eye disease that leads to blindness, in Cardigan Welsh Corgis. 

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Corbett enjoys baking, hiking, reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Erik, and her three dogs and cat.


Dr. Melissa Morgan

Dr. Melissa Morgan

Dr. Morgan graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Zoology in 2008, and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She discovered a love for critical and complex cases while working as an emergency practioner for 7 years before joining us at Union Lake Veterinary Hospital. She has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, pain management, ultrasound, and geriatric care.

She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

At home, she enjoys hiking and backpacking with her husband and two dogs (Ava and Kiya), spending time with her cat (Shadow), and has developed a passion for dog sports. She is currently working with her first competitive dog, Ava, in agility, rally, and competitive obedience.
