Stem Cell Therapy

Stem Cell Therapy: Regenerative Medicine for the New Generation of Pets

One of the most important advancements of veterinary medicine is the amount of noninvasive treatment and rehabilitation we can offer pets nowadays. Stem cell therapy is one such example, and it's available at Union Lake Veterinary Hospital.

What Is Stem Cell Therapy?

In the most basic terms, stem cell therapy uses healthy adult cells to rebuild damaged cells in particular parts of the body. In pet care, stem cell therapy is typically used to repair bone, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. This helps in the treatment of arthritis, fractures, and other degenerative diseases.

Stem Cells

At Union Lake, we only use adult stem cells to treat your pet; no embryonic stem cells of any kind are used. In fact, the stem cells come from the fat cells of your pet, so there is little chance of rejection.

Pain Management

Your pet will need to be placed under anesthesia to withdraw the fatty tissue that will be used to cultivate the stem cells. Later, your pet will also get an injection of the stem cells into the treatment area.
