How Do I know if My Pet is Experiencing an Emergency Situation?

You know your pets better than anyone else, so if you believe they are sick or hurt, you’re probably right. Some of the most common reasons for an emergency vet visit may include:

  • Unexplained bleeding
  • Animal attack
  • Seizures
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Auto accidents
  • Vomiting and severe diarrhea
  • Chronic fatigue and sudden collapsing
  • Unresponsiveness
  • Difficulty urinating

If you are unsure whether or not your pet has an emergency, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

My Pet May Have Eaten Something Poisonous. Now What?

If you believe your pet may have ingested something poisonous, you should call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 1-888-426-4435 for immediate instructions. If you are instructed to bring your pet to our animal hospital, they should provide you with a case number to help our veterinarian provide additional care.

Can You Give Out Emergency Vet Care Advice Over the Phone?

Veterinary advice is rarely given over the phone. It is difficult for our veterinary team to give owners meaningful advice without examining the patient first. If you are concerned about your pet’s well-being, our best advice is to bring him or her into the hospital so that they can be seen by the vet.

What Should I Do If My Pet Has an Emergency?

Owners should do what they can to remain calm in an emergency situation and call our offices ASAP. If possible, stay with your pet in the back seat of your car and ask a friend or family member to drive you to our offices.
