Wellness Exam
As soon as possible after bringing your kit or pup home, schedule a visit to our veterinarian for a wellness exam. At this time, we will review your pet’s medical history and answer any questions you may have concerning his nutritional needs, vaccinations, parasite control, house training, and behavior.
Once we have updated your pet’s records, we will conduct a thorough physical exam to confirm his health. We will inspect his eyes, nose, ears, mouth, joints, and skin and listen to his lungs and heart. We will also test your puppy or kitten for flea infestations and parasites that can weaken his health. By starting early in caring for the health and welfare of puppies and kittens, you do your part to help them grow into healthy dogs and cats.
Vaccinations
While your puppy or kitten is nursing, he receives immunity from his mother’s milk. Once he is weaned, however, he is vulnerable to life threatening diseases. For this reason, we recommend your pup or kit start receiving vaccinations around 6 to 8 weeks of age with boosters given every 3-4 weeks until he reaches 16 weeks of age. We will vaccinate your pet against such deadly diseases as rabies, distemper, parvovirus and others to protect his health.
Spay & Neuter
If you do not plan to breed your kit or pup, we recommend you considering spaying or neutering your pet. Spaying and neutering your pet can help improve his temperament and health and reduce overpopulation of dogs and cats. Spay/neuter procedures are safe and effective in preventing unwanted pregnancies and litters. We can help you determine the best time to spay or neuter your pet.
Microchipping
Microchipping is a painless, secure means of identifying your kit or pup if he should get lost or stolen. Through microchipping, you stand a better chance of getting your pet back safely if he gets lost, runs away, or is stolen.
