Horse vs. Cat...who wins?!

Peaches is a cat that presented to the clinic after being stepped on by a horse.  X-rays revealed a fractured toe and severe injuries to the skin and soft tissues of the entire paw.  Dr. Adam Laughlin determined, under anesthesia, that the damage to his fourth digit was too extensive to save the toe, and an amputation was performed. The 5th digit was also severely injured, and an attempt was made to salvage this toe in an effort to allow Peaches to still climb trees.  Peaches was kept in clinic for 3 weeks while his wounds were monitored.  He had frequent visits by his two little girls who love him very much.  We are happy to report that due to the extensive treatment and loving care by Dr. Adam Laughlin and all our staff, Peaches was able to go home.  He is now back to his favorite thing which is hunting and climbing trees!  His foot has healed and it hasn’t slowed him down a bit.  We hope Peaches has many more years of exploring in his future, but that he steers clear of the horses! In this case we think that Peaches came out the winner since he is back to enjoying his days on the farm!
