Jesse Tyma

Dr. Tyma is an accomplished equine surgeon that through her career has gained experience in orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgery, sports medicine, as well as advanced diagnostic imaging on a robust Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorse and mixed sport horse population. For the last 3.5 years, she has been in practice at a large referral center in the northeast. Dr. Tyma’s clinical interests include gastrointestinal and soft tissue surgery, wound management, sports medicine, and back disorders.

Dr. Tyma grew up in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and attended Amherst College for her undergraduate education followed by Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating internship at Rhinebeck Equine followed by a large animal surgical residency at the University of Georgia and then became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (large animal). Dr. Tyma is a member of the AAEP Internship Task Force and is both a Decade One member and a group facilitator. She is passionate about providing dedicated mentorship for intern veterinarians and building a strong sense of community and collaboration through her practice. Dr. Tyma is an avid CrossFitter, hiker, downhill skier, and explorer of new-to-her mountainous regions with her partner, friends, and family. At home, she thoroughly enjoys doting on her pair of orange cats (Henry and Duncan) and miniature horses (Thunderbolt and Winnie).

Dr. Tyma is ecstatic to return to the Hudson Valley to join the Rhinebeck Equine team and looks forward to building relationships within the practice, with referring veterinarians, and across the community to help serve the local horse population.
