Ultrasound

Ultrasound is used for the imaging of inner organs. With this use we are able to see enlarged or abnormal organs, detect kidney, urinary bladder and gall stones. We can guide a needle to do a diagnostic collection of tissue thus avoiding a surgical biopsy. To get a precise diagnosis of a condition a biopsy is usually necessary.

For us to properly assess and determine if your pet has a urinary tract infection, UTI, we must collect a sterile sample and examine it completely. Our ultrasound machine enables us to exactly pinpoint the bladder so that we can collect a urine sample using cystocentesis. Caught urine samples and table top urine samples can never be used to make a UTI diagnosis as outside bacteria will contaminate the sample. The process of cystocentesis is not painful to your pet!
