What is Hydrotherapy?

It is the use of isokinetic movements in which your pet moves in a low strain and relaxing medium of water. The tank of water is set at 90F and supplies gentle vibrations via relaxing jet streams.

An underwater treadmill can also be implemented at controlled various speeds dependent on the stage of rehabilitation or conditioning. The underwater treadmill allows for buoyancy which enhances full range of motion, cardiovascular strength and increased general fitness.

Some other benefits include: relaxation, muscle development, retraining, conditioning, and general fitness.

How do I know if my pet is a good candidate?

Every patient is different dependant on age, condition, lifestyle, and chief complaint. Your veterinarian will devise a plan that tailors to your pet’s need after complete evaluation.

Who can benefit from Hydrotherapy?

Patients who are: arthritic, overweight, on a dietary regimen, and stroke patients.

Patients who have: hip dysplasia, disc disease, cruciate repair, or fracture repair.

Patients who need: physical rehabilitation to strengthen muscles and increase exercise.

Physical conditioning for: working, agility, and hunting dogs.

Who will be doing the Hydrotherapy?

A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) under the direct supervision of the attending veterinarian. If your pet is apprehensive of the water, the RVT will happily go into the hydrotherapy unit with them.
