Press Release - World Rabies Day

World Rabies Day

Phoenix, AZ,  August 25, 2022 –

.

North Central Animal Hospital is proud to participate in World Rabies Day, which is an event that takes place each year on September 28th. As animal healthcare professionals, North Central Animal Hospital’s mission is to keep pets in the community safe and disease-free. The animal hospital’s participation in World Rabies Day allows them to fulfill this mission by raising awareness regarding the rabies disease, its effects, and how it can be prevented.

Rabies is a virus that is passed from animal to animal through bites and contact between open wounds and infected saliva. Rabies causes aggressive, unpredictable behavior and can be transmitted from infected animal to human. There is no cure for rabies, and the disease always results in death.

Dr. Hillary G. Frank, one of two veterinarians at North Central Animal Hospital, is passionate about raising rabies awareness, particularly among children. “Many children simply do not understand how dangerous rabies is,” says Dr. Frank. “While approaching an unfamiliar animal might seem like no big deal to a child, he or she might be putting themselves and their family at a great risk.”

Due to the fatal and easily transmissible nature of rabies, the rabies vaccine is the most important pet vaccine by far. In Arizona, there is a law that requires pets to receive the rabies vaccine when they are three months old. Rabies vaccinations allow pet owners to protect themselves, their pets, and their communities from the deadly disease. North Central Animal Hospital offers $5 rabies vaccines, making the immunization process easier and more accessible than ever.

North Central Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital serving Phoenix, AZ, and the surrounding areas. Dr. Hillary G. Frank and Dr. Ivy Thomas provide reliable veterinary care for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and other exotics. as Dr. Frank is one of Arizona’s premier avian specialists, making the practice particularly noteworthy.

North Central Animal Hospital can be reached online or by phone at (602) 395-9773.
