What To Expect

puppy1.pngAt All Pets Animal Hospital, it is our philosophy to offer our clients the best care options possible while maintaining a friendly "neighborhood veterinarian" atmosphere.  We focus on preventative medicine, aiming to prevent illness or catch early signs so that your pet lives as long, healthy and happy a life as possible.  We believe strongly in client education and encourage any questions you may have.

Examinations/Office Calls

In order to monitor and maintain your pet's health, you should bring your pet in at least once a year for a General Health Exam.  For senior pets (dogs and cats over 7, in most cases), it is recommended that your pet been examined every 6 months.

Your First Exam: If this is your pet's first exam with us, we recommend that you bring any previous medical history that your pet may have.  If you would like, we would be more than happy to request records from a previous veterinarian.  Also, bring your questions!  While we love to see your pet, we want to make sure to address any concerns that you may have, so that we can best help you care for your pet.

The exam starts with a thorough intake by a member of our technician staff.  The staff member will get a current weight and temperature, then review with you your patient’s general status, feeding habits, exercise habits, medications, supplements and vaccine history.  They will also take this time to discuss any current concerns you may have. Next, the veterinarian will examine all of your pet's body systems, including the eyes, ears, mouth/gums, skin, abdomen, heart, lungs and general body condition.  At this time, the veterinarian and veterinary assistant will also review any concerns you may have, while going over your pet's diet, lifestyle and any recommended preventative care.  Once the exam is completed, the veterinarian will may make treatment recommendations based on his findings.

Treatment Plans

Once the doctor has spoken to you and thoroughly examined your pet, he may make suggestions for possible treatments and/or preventative care.  Once he has explained the recommendations, he will draw up an estimate for the costs of these procedures.  Then, the doctor or assistant will review these charges with you, so that together you can decide a good course of treatment that is also something you can afford.  It is our policy to create an estimate for all but the most basic treatment plan.

Medications

We stock a comprehensive pharmacy, allowing us to send most recommended medications, shampoos, nutriceuticals and preventatives home on the same day that they are prescribed.

Prescription Refills:  All prescription medications require a current doctor-client-patient relationship, meaning that we have to have seen your pet within the last year in order to refill the prescription.
We kindly ask that you allow us 24 hours to refill medications.  This gives us time to get doctor approval (when necessary) for refills, and then to chart and fill the prescription.
Unfortunately, due to California pharmacy laws, we are unable to fill prescriptions from another veterinarian without having a current (yearly) exam with the patient at our hospital.

Payment

In general, payment is due when services are rendered or goods are sent home.  We accept Cash, Checks (subject to electronic verification), most Credit Cards, and Care Credit.

While we are unable to offer in-house payment plans we do accept Care Credit.  This is a specialty line of credit that offers a simple application process and 6 months no-interest financing on invoices over $300.  For more information, or to apply online, visit: www.carecredit.com.
