LACHLAN'S STORY

Lachlan

Several years ago my horse Lachlan developed laminitis.  It was a tough time - not only struggling through the initial stages of discomfort and pain, but also the long road to recovery.  The inflammation in his feet may have subsided without permanent damage to the hoof structures, but his entire body was sore and uncomfortable, and he had also developed some distortion to his teeth (imagine clenching your jaw in pain all the time!).

My formerly easy-going cuddly horse struggled to find a comfortable resting position and was unhappy even being touched.  I was desperate to find help.  Fortunately, our rehabilitative hoof trimmer referred us to a vet that did postural rehabilitation and had years of experience in dealing with laminitic horses.

Thus began a series of treatments including chiropractic care, acupuncture, homeopathic remedies, various alternative therapies, and an excellent equine dentist.  One of those alternative therapies was ozone therapy.   I'm sure there is a fancy medical description for ozone therapy but my simple understanding is that the body is given an influx of oxygen (in Lac's case through an IV) which gives a huge kickstart to the red blood cells stimulating healing.  Within minutes I saw a change in Lachlan - he was able to relax, stretch, and over the next few weeks he began growing a new hoof at an accelerated rate - amazing stuff!

I've seen horses with all sorts of disorders from Lyme Disease to terrible wounds benefit from ozone as well as horses coming for ozone therapy prior to competitions - all with positive and encouraging results.

HAPPY TO HEAR THAT LACHLAN IS DOING MUCH BETTER - thank you for sharing his story while on the road to recovery.

Testimonial

  • "We are so thankful we found Dr. Anders! He spends a lot of time with Bo who suffers from liver disease. We are trying acupuncture, manipulation of the spine, and Eastern holistic herbs. Bo loves his new food and we see a new vitality in his behavior. We knew we had nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying a holistic approach. The staff is so friendly and caring, too. Time will tell concerning Bo's prognosis, but he seems so happy chasing squirrels again. Thanks Dr. Anders and staff! (Oh, and the bandanas are adorable!)"
