Did you know that heartworm is a serious and potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms that live in the heart? If left undiagnosed or untreated, these worms can grow up to a length of 15-30cm, and in severe cases a dog may be infested with hundreds!
A simple blood test will help us ensure your dog is heartworm free!
But perhaps you still have some questions. Perhaps you are wondering if you still need to have the heartworm test done this year if your pet was on prevention last year. Annual testing is always recommended. I believe it is more important than ever now! Why? Because last year in Ontario, 80% of dogs were not on any sort of prevention. And it only takes 1 bite from 1 mosquito on 1 of these dogs to be able to then pass it along to our dogs.
Perhaps you wondering if the medication really works? Studies show that in cases where preventive treatment appeared to have failed, the owners actually had forgotten to give the doses or didn't have the medication to give at all.
