Can the Coronavirus Pass Between Pets & People?

People are often concerned about the possibility of transmitting coronavirus to their pets, or their pets transmitting coronavirus to humans. Theoretically, the coronavirus could pass between pets and people. However, this is highly unlikely. None of the health organizations dedicated to fighting and monitoring the coronavirus have identified this as a potential problem for any pets.

Can My Pet Get Coronavirus Vaccinations?

As you no doubt already know, coronavirus vaccinations for humans are underway. Many pet owners are also interested in getting coronavirus vaccinations for their pets. However, dogs and cats are at a very low risk both of getting the virus and transmitting the disease if they do somehow contract it. So, it’s more likely you will be receiving a vaccination for corona before your pet does.

Coronavirus Precautions at Our Animal Hospital

We are doing our part to fight against coronavirus. We have adjusted our hours to allow us time to thoroughly sanitize our facility. We also wear face masks and ask that our pet owners do the same. You can use the live chat feature on our website to navigate any questions you may have. We are even offering a pet valet service to reduce the amount of human-to-human contact at our facility.
