WHAT TICKS YOU OFF?

WHAT TICKS YOU OFF?

Will you be going Camping with your 4 legged family members?  Perhaps you both love going Hiking? Or maybe you just love staying local, running around at the Humber, at the off leash park or anywhere there is tall grass? If so we should talk about the dangers of ticks.

These hitch hikers like to "quest" on the end of tall grass and branches. As you and your pet walk or run by, they then fall onto you or your pet.  While they cannot survive on your blood, they may still enjoy a feeding as they do not really know the difference between you and your pet until they are attached.  But they really want our furry family members.  So if you are going camping, hiking or simply running around in tall grass, we recommend you make it a daily habit to run your hands over your furry friend (and yourself) and feel for lumps and bumps or things that feel and look like a skin tag or wart. Finding these critters as fast as possible is key when our pets are not on any protection.  Be sure to come in right away to have it removed if you do find one.

If this grosses you out as it does many, or simply to protect them from these bugs, we also have medications that protect your pet from the diseases we worry about ticks passing along like Lyme Disease. - Sorry though, we unfortunately do not have any human medication to protect you :(

Tick protection should start as soon as the weather is at 4 degrees Celsius and continue until it goes below that. They are a huge issue this year -- especially in places like Point Pelee, Prince Edward county, Kingston, Long Point, Turkey Point, Rondeau Park, Niagara Region, and now here in Toronto!!!  Ready to have the tick talk?  Give us a call today.  We are always happy to help.
