Introducing Digital Radiography!

All of us at Jane Animal Hospital are excited to introduce digital radiography to our list of services available to all our patients.  Digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging, where digital x-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film.  Digital radiography provides us with much more detail and information.  Compare the 2 dog images below.  The image on the left was made with a traditional x-ray technique.  The image on the right was taken at with digital radiography.  What a difference!!

1st Image: Traditional Film

2nd Image: Digital X-Ray

Digital radiography provides many benefits:

1.  Because chemical processing is not needed, digital radiography is more environmentally friendly.

2.  The quality of the images is remarkable.  Digital images can show us much more detail.  The image resolution far surpasses conventional x-ray images.  We are able to get a better picture of your pet's health status.

3. We can digitally enhance the images.  We can focus on specific areas.  We have a variety of tools used to maximize the information that the digtial picture can give us.  The digital x-ray image can tell us much more about the status of your pet than traditional film x-rays.

4. We can send images to specialists electronically.  If we need an additonal consulation on your pet's x-rays, we can send the image to a specialist immediatley who will analyse and send a report within hours.  We can give you information on a more timely basis.  This allows us to meet your pet's needs better.

5. We can save a copy of the images onto a CD.  You can take the digital x-ray images with you in the case your pet is being referred to a medical specialist.

6.  You can view your pet's digital images on line.

7.  We can print the images for you.  You are able to take a printed report regarding your pet's medical status which includes pictures of the digital radiographs.

Overall, digital radiography allows us to gather more information about your pet which gives us a better foundation to make the proper medical recommendatoins.  We are excited to offer this incredible service to you and your pets.
